How Twee -t

Opera aficionados look away now... or at least put down your binoculars. The Royal Opera House has commissioned a work by Twitterers. That's right, me and you... the general public.... plebs!

The idea is part of a campaign attempting to broaden the appeal of opera. The ROH provided the start of the story. So, are you all sitting comfortably: One morning, very early, a man and a woman were standing, arm-in-arm, in London's Covent Garden. The man turned to the woman and he sang...

Something pretty obscure judging by the story developing so far - the Twitter Opera feed.

People can send in 140 character tweets to #youropera. The tweets will be accompanied by popular opera tunes, as well as an original score by Helen Porter, and performed at the Deloitte Ignite 09 festival in September.
