A snapshot of LGBTQ+ America [Infographic]

Gay pride

With Gay Pride celebrations in full swing in various cities across the globe, it's worth brands taking note of this consumer segment - which, in the US alone, controls nearly a trillion dollars in spending power.

However, this influential and brand-savvy segment receives a tiny fraction of marketing dollars directed to other diverse consumer groups.

What's more, traditional measures of orientation don't really reflect the way younger individuals think about their lives. New research from WPP's global foresight and futures consultancy Kantar Futures shows that 15% of the US population consider themselves something other than exclusively straight, including an astonishing one-fourth of Millennials.
