M&M Global Awards 2018 open for entries with renewed focus on ‘marketing’

The annual M&M Global Awards 2018 has opened for entries and is inviting creative, media and PR agencies, ad tech, mobile and digital specialists, brands and media owners from around the globe to submit their best work in a celebration of global media and marketing excellence.

Revealing a new venue, new categories and new format, the renewed M&M Global Awards 2018 aims to reflect what is happening across the media and marketing landscape in 2018 with categories celebrating the work from a number of key industry sectors ranging from automotive and beauty to travel and FMCG.

The awards will also, for the first time in 29 years, remove the stipulation of the campaigns having to run in more than two different countries as the number of truly international campaigns are dwindling in this new world of media and marketing.

MediaCom leads Festival of Media Global Awards 2018 shortlist

WPP’s MediaCom – just days after topping the Gunn Media 100 report – has dominated the Festival of Media Global Awards 2018 shortlist, with an impressive 53 entries.

PHD Worldwide takes the second spot with 41 and OMD completes the top three with 27 entries across the Media, Content and Insight & Technology categories.

MediaCom’s success is in part explained by an remarkable effort by MediaCom Israel, with 11 shortlisted entries. Other individual agency offices of note are MediaCom UK and Touché! Canada with 10 entries each and Mindshare China with nine – giving the top four a real global flavour.

In fact, out of 53 entering countries 38 made it into the shortlist with the UK leading the way on 50 entries, while the US and China boast 32 and 22, respectively.

Mindshare sweeps up at Festival of Media APAC Awards 2018

Mindshare has been awarded ‘Agency Network of the Year’ at the Festival Media APAC Awards 2018, as well as its Mindshare China office taking the ‘Agency of the Year’ title.

Campaign of the Year was awarded to PHD for its ‘DB Export Beer Bottle Sand’ campaign in New Zealand, which picked up three Gold Awards, one Silver and a Special Award for ‘Best Media Campaign of Oceania’.

Winners were announced on the evening of March 15 during an awards ceremony at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay.

Mindshare tops Festival of Media APAC Awards 2018 shortlist

Mindshare has topped the chart as the best performing network with 47 shortlisted entries in this year’s Festival of Media APAC Awards, followed by MediaCom with 28 listings and PHD with 23.

Geographically, Australia leads the country chart with 33 shortlisted entries, followed by India with 31 and China with 24. Out of 17 entering countries, a total of 13 are represented on the shortlist.

By individual agency office, Mindshare China achieved an impressive 17 entries, followed by UM Australia and Mindshare India, both with 13 entries represented.

Unilever dominates the brand count with an outstanding 28 entries. The Coca-Cola Company and P&G are also represented well with 10 entries each.

Over the last three weeks, more than 60 judges from leading brands, media agencies, specialist companies and media owners evaluated the quality of the campaigns to determine this year’s shortlist. The winners will be chosen by a final jury chaired by Susie Wong, Director of Performance & Programmatic Marketing of IBM Asia-Pacific.

Following the dominance of Asian campaigns at Festival of Media’s Best of 2017 Awards, where three of five trophies were awarded to the APAC region, Festival of Media APAC Awards 2018 is launching four special awards to find the most impactful media idea in the four key regions across APAC: South East Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines); South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka); East Asia (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Mongolia, North Korea and South Korea); and Oceania (Australia, New Zealand and their pacific island neighbours). The four winners will automatically be entered into the most relevant category at this year’s Festival of Media Global Awards in Rome.

Award winners will be announced at the Festival of Media APAC Awards ceremony on March 15, 2018 at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay.

Festival of Media North America Awards 2017 winners revealed

Omnicom Media Group has been named ‘Media Group of the Year’ at the inaugural Festival of Media North America Awards 2017 after an impressive performance across the board at last night’s award ceremony.

PHD Worldwide was crowned ‘Agency Network of the Year’ and Touché! PHD Canada ‘Agency of the Year’ in addition to walking away with the coveted ‘Campaign of the Year’ title for Canadian Safe School Networks’ ‘Bully Ads’.

The winners were announced during a themed awards ceremony on November 30 at the Metropolitan West in New York City.

Festival of Media LatAm Award Winners 2017

Initiative has been awarded 'Agency Network of the Year' and Initiative Argentina 'Agency of the Year' at the Festival of Media LatAm Awards 2017 after winning 17 out of the 22 categories revealed during the 'Dance of the Dead' awards show on October 30 at the Turnberry Isle in Miami, USA. 

As a result of the group's success on the night, IPG Mediabrands walked away with the 'Media Group of the Year' title. 

A total of 56 trophies were given out during the awards show, with the coveted 'Campaign of the Year' awarded to MediaCom Mexico for Victoria's 'Hotel of Legends' alongside five other trophies. 

Proving its regional appeal, the awards saw winners from 11 countries, with Mexico leading the way with 13 wins, followed by Colombia with eight, the US and Argentina with seven each and Brazil with six trophies. 

Chair of the Jury, Daniela Cachich, Marketing Vice-President for PepsiCo Brazil, commented: "It was an honour to be the chair of this year's Festival of Media LatAm Awards. The work has been very inspiring and of a high standard and the jury had very rich and interesting discussions to find the best work of the region."

Festival of Media North America Awards 2017 finalists announced

Finalists for the inaugural Festival of Media North America Awards 2017 have been unveiled with campaigns from PHD, Mindshare, OMD, UM, Zenith, MEC, Maxus, Hearts & Science and J3, among others, in the running for an award.  

Headed by Rob Rakowitz, global media director, Mars, the jury will preside over the best work from brands, media owners and agencies across North America. The winners will be announced in a themed awards ceremony on November 30 at the Metropolitan West in New York City. Guests are invited to a ‘Night Circus’ to network with peers and celebrate the industry’s best work. The evening will also see the winners of the Festival of Media’s Best of 2017 awards, honouring the best campaigns over all the awards editions of 2017 with just five prestigious trophies to be won.

Initiative tops the Festival of Media LatAm Awards 2017 shortlist

IPG's Initiative has come out on top as the best performing agency network on the Festival of Media LatAm Awards 2017 shortlist, with 25 campaigns featured across 13 different categories including Best Communications Strategy, The Effectiveness Award, Best Use of Data and the newly-introduced Best Integrated Campaign.  

MediaCom closely follows with 20 campaigns featured on the shortlist, while OMD Worldwide and UM complete the top four with 10 entries each.  

In terms of geographical breakdown, Mexico leads with 29 shortlisted entries, followed by Argentina with 18, while the US, Brazil and Colombia complete the top five with 15 entries each.  

As the shortlist was announced today (September 20), special praise was given to Initiative Argentina with an impressive 10 shortlisted entries with six campaigns for Unilever. In fact, the FMCG giant dominates the brand count with 16 in total, AB InBev with seven, while Aeroméxico and Grupo Ramos were credited with five entries each. Other brands including The Coca-Cola Company, Mastercard, BMW, Snickers, L’Oreal and LATAM airlines also made the final cut on this year's shortlist. 

More than 35 judges from leading brands, media agencies, specialist companies and media owners evaluated the quality of the campaigns over the last three weeks. The winners will be chosen by a final jury chaired by Daniela Cachich, VP of Marketing for PepsiCo Brazil Foods, and the successful entrants will be revealed at the “Dance of the Dead” awards evening of celebration and entertainment on October 30 during the three day-long Festival of Media LatAm conference taking place from 29-31 October at Turnberry Isle Miami.
