Cream world tour presents Mexico: Nike, Burger King, and Gladiator
Welcome to the Cream world tour! Over the next few months, the Cream team will take you around the world of media to examine each country's most innovative case studies. Through these country visits, you will learn how each country, far or near, tackle the various issues we all face when putting a brand out there. Hopefully, you will leave each country with a bit of inspiration and bit of cultural insight!
Our first stop will be Mexico. With a share of 64.4% adspend, TV is the most popular medium for advertisers, followed by newspaper (8.1%), and magazine (3.7%). For more insight on Mexican market data, key players, and ad legislation, click here.
From Havas Media, our first case study is Have some "Huevos." Nike unites football fans to revive the fortunes of the national team, and takes a swipe at the official sponsor. "Huevos" was a fans-centric movement that generated rapid awareness and trust amongst the fans, and had the ability to spread quickly through fan-based communications channels. From Initiative, comes our second case study which will make your jaw drop! For the release of its new Mega Angus XL sandwich, a truly King-size burger, Burger King tests the mettle of hamburger fans by creating the first ever "Open your mouth THICK Training Centres" Inside, brand "experts" helped commuters handle the new burger with jaw massages and lip loosening exercises. From Starcom Mediavest comes our third and final case study of this tour. After realising that working class labourers need high levels of energy and courage to get through their day, Gladiator, an energy drink from Coca-Cola in Mexico, chooses to embrace its macho side to engage an older generation of energy drink consumers.
