Media consumption in pretty colours (Infographic)
Sometimes you come across an infographic that is both useful and beautiful to look at. This media consumption wheel from Hill Holiday is an excellent example.
Different segments of the wheel represent different media channels and environments in which we consume our media. Each ring represents an hour of the day, and the intensity of the colour corresponds to the amount of media consumed.
Here comes the science bit: Each segment of the wheel is linked to a cell on an Excel spreadsheet. The different levels of colour are achieved by linking the transparency setting to the corresponding data point. All this was produced painstakingly produced in Illustrator by Eric Fensterheim, one of Hill Holiday's designers.
While there aren't any major surprises in the results, this is a neat way of summing up what must have been an overwhelming spreadsheet full of data.
