When media gets really dirty
The common perception about the Media industry from the outside is that we live a glamorous life of extended lunches, champagne receptions and after-hours narcortic hedonism. Sadly, this isn't the case. Much. Media, like most online dependant industries these days is largely a desk job like any other.
But if Media has been sanitised, that doesn't mean that those who work in it don't like to let of steam and get muddy once in a while. One such group of media professionals are the Moriati Media Nomads, a rugby team assembled from the ranks of JCDecaux, ZenithOptimedia, Channel 5, Disney and others.
Pitted against teams from City giants like JP Morgan, Lloyds and Citibank in the annual City League - I wouldn't have been that confident in a Media team's performance, but it turns out that far from stopping to check their phones every two minutes, tweet during the match, or stage a brainstorming session during half time to help 're-connect with their audience', the Moriati Media Nomads only went and won the league!
Obviously this success for the Media industry means that we will try and 'refresh' the City League brand for next year, and probably launch a YouTube video series, an app, a Facebook page... [Fades out]
