Experiential at its finest: First Great Western’s awesome Scalextric train set
“ALL ABOARD!”
We’ve got some fun experiential activity to share with you today - First Great Western is taking a model train set on tour to showcase the great destinations and attractions on offer across the South West of England.
Want to check out the dramatic scenery of the Clifton Suspension Bridge or whizz past the National Assembly for Wales’ Senedd building? You can do it with this interactive train model, brought to you by experiential agency Blackjack Promotions. People are invited to drive the train through undulating landscape and have their time recorded on a score board.
“Supporting our Be a Great Westerner advertising campaign, this model showcases the entire Great Western network and helps to remind people of some of the beautiful attractions available on our own doorstep,” says First Great Western Campaign Manager Jamie Anderson.“But, not only that, it also brings back childhood memories of setting up the Scalextric on the sitting room floor and is great fun.”
First stop was the Devon County Show, which took place over the weekend. Next up will be the Bath and West Show, with Blackjack’s dedicated team of staff on hand to help at a range of First Great Western events this summer.
“The aim with this bespoke First Great Western track is to bring something fun and interactive for guests to enjoy at these events, all the while capturing customer data, to help customers better take advantage of FGW offers, in the process,” says Blackjack Promotions Account Director Holly Neufville.
The Scalextric model tour compliments last week’s launch of First Great Western’s latest “Be a Great Westerner” multi-media advertising campaign, which will see a £6m (approx. $10m) investment in TV, print and online advertising promoting travel to the South West, managed by MEC Manchester.
