Subterranean homesick Google
I don't like being second guessed. My inner disruptive child doesn't like it, and so when products like Google Instant appear on the market, I deliberately set out to out-fox the algorithms only to find that most of the time, machines really do know best.
Most IT related advertising really annoys me (every time I see a Windows 7 TV spot I have to resist a powerful urge to punch the screen), and the recent Google search ads raised my hackles sightly, but this spot for Google Instant featuring the iconic Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues video is something of a master stroke.
For those unfamiliar with Bob's video, Subterranean Homesick Blues is the one where Bob stands in front of the camera flashing key words from the song lyrics on flashcards in time with the music. This description hasn't really done it justice, but it's interesting to note that Bob and film director D.A Pennebaker came up with the idea of SEO keywords 30 years before the birth of Google.
It's still a cracking tune too... check out the Google-free version here.
