German cucumbers get Durex protection
When it comes to comical vegetables, there's no getting away from the fact that cucumbers are funny. The cucumber's involvement in the recent outbreak of E-Coli in Germany serves as a bizarre footnote to the medical incident that reads like a the absurd fate of a character from an Evelyn Waugh story. UK tabloid The Sun phoned in their analysis of the story with the headline 'Killer cucumbers'.
Durex, a brand to never knowingly underestimate the opportunity for some topical innuendo, has seized the media interest in cucumbers with both hands, and popped a condom on it.
Translation: Girls, give E-Coli no chance.(Thanks to Unity for correcting our duff translation -Ed.)
WHY IS THIS ON CREAM? Because this is a good example of a brand reacting to a major news event. It's naughty, but not distasteful. A condom-wearing cucumber is a familiar sight to biology students all over the world - this is a joke that works on several levels.

The German is more akin to "Girls, give E. Coli no chance."
