Hi!
This is my inaugural post for the new Cream blog, welcome. My name is Tom Denford, I live in London and am the founder of a new type of communications company. I will be adding to this wonderful blog as much as possible, its a great resource and a great idea to get those of us out here with particularly loud and active mouths to ponder, ignite and contribute to some important conversation around the business we call home.
I have now hit that inevitable stage in my career that the odd (in both senses) person refers to me as an agency veteran. Flattering I suppose, if the industry still needs its share of veterans before we all get washed away by machines. But I'm only 34 years young, still occasionally naive and frayed around the edges, but full of inspiration, energy and enthusiasm for interesting, effective marketing.
I'm really interested (especially in the current times) of how agencies will adapt to shifting demands from their clients, why those demands are shifting and how that may (hopefully) provoke some much needed change in the business models of some marketing services companies, notably media and creative agencies (I've worked in a number of both).
This is mainly what I'll be banging on about. There's a whole lot to consider...Sometimes I will post half digested ideas, sometimes they might be clever and sometimes dumb, but the aim will always be to capture the essence of the conversations I think are important, stuff I'm hearing and I'll be sure to give you my thoughts in the simplest, most practical way I can...with the odd bit of inane ramble thrown in for good measure
So, here we go, a little late for the party but its just getting started.
Oh, when we write on this blog, the very nice people at Cream give is a little set of tick box options to categorize our posts, one says 'Spreadable Media'. That's what I chose, plainly because there wasn't a tick box that said 'inane ramble'. I guess I know what this means but I like the image it conjured up. I promise to find an example of 'spreadable' (literally) media....any suggestions welcome
Tom
