Having a whale of a time in Hyde Park

The Serpentine in Hyde Park has welcomed a new aquatic addition to its depths - a blue whale... Actually it's just a model of a blue whale tail, measuring 3 metres high and six metres wide - representative of a 24-40m long whale.

The "sting" of the tail is the new Nat Geo show, Blue Whale Odyssey and the launch of an HD Channel. Potentially MTV could seize the opportunity to say something about climate change

Liz Hurley: got meat?

Whilst "Hurley Meat" might sound like a rather insalubrious B movie, it is in fact the name of the Estee Lauder spokeswoman's new range of organic meat products, being launched with Prince Charles' company Duchy Originals.

The "modern, healthy organic food" range will launch in October.

The impossible pitch

Small Swedish agency has set its 3 interns a rather grand challenge:

Why? Because, according to Adidas, impossible is nothing.

Is Google the saviour of the Chinese music industry?

Google has launched an ad-supported music service in China, with the aim of making online music profitable there. 14 independent labels and the big four music will join with Google to compete with search engines already pointing users to free music.

The service is actually run through the partially-Google-owned Top100.cn, which is responsible for selling advertising space and divvying up revenues between the music labels. The site will be limited by IP address to those in mainland China.

It is seen a direct response to popular Chinese search engine Baidu, which is renowned for providing access to endless illegal music.

Piracy is a big problem in China both in the music and film industries. Whether Google will be able to tackle it remains to be seen.

The sad plight of abandoned sound equipment

Unicef left babies' prams filled with sound equipment that was "crying" to raise awareness for children's rights. Anyone who peered into the pram would see a message reading: "Thank you for caring, we hope there are more people like you. Unicef. Be  mum for the moment.

Whatever tickles your fancy

I can't quite believe that this is a real ad for erotic accessories store Coco de Mer. If men sniffing a pair of tights or getting their cat to lick their nipple is all a bit much, this might not be the video for you!

The office skydive experience

Just in case you weren't already suffering enough with lift-related claustrophobia, a skydive company has found a new ad format to freak out office workers.

The funny side of recession

British drinks brand Schweppes has launched an ad campaign consisting of bi-weekly satirical cartoons, starting with the plight of increasingly endangered bankers.

The Hogarthian-style cartoons will reference current affairs and the news agenda with a satirical slant. The idea is to keep consumers engaged in an ongoing dialogue. The cartoons will appear in print and out of home. Each ad plays on the message “experience matters”, referring to the fact that Schweppes has over 2 centuries of experience.
