ModiFace has developed a technology that allows users to put their own images into online ads.
Geared towards beauty brands, consumers would be able to upload their image to see a before and after shot of how they’d look using a product.

People can then send before or after pictures to friends, a bit like joke services like Christmas favourite Elf Yourself.
Dubbed rather awkwardly “appvertisements”, the technology has been used by a number of hair care, make-up, weight-loss and cosmetic surgery brands.
I'm wondering whether this will be used by advertisers on Facebook - using your profile photo to show you (and only you) what you would look like if you were generally hotter than you are now. I'm not sure how well that would go down amongst users though. But provided you can opt in on an ad-by-ad basis, I can't see it being too much of a problem.
