Surprising things in Bulgaria
Bulgaria. I don't know a great deal about it, apart from the fact that a friend of mine bought a villa out there for about £25. When he went to pick up the keys and arrived at his new Balkan holiday home, he was surprised to find in his new front garden a goat, on a stick - or rather, a goat tied to a stick, which came as part of the purchase.
The second thing about Bulgaria I know, is that a recent billboard from Penthouse caused a fair degree of consternation amongst the locals. My understanding of Bulgarian is not as strong as it could be, and a lack of Eastern Europeans in the office prevents me from getting a full translation, but it appears that in a cross promotion with a vodka called "Orgasm" someone, somewhere, thought it would be a nice idea to make take a close up photo of and eye and - well, see for yourself:
No it's not a вагина. It's an око turned on it's side. (you've gotta love Google translate) Naturally, people complained - as they have a habit of doing, and it all kicked off in the Bulgarian advertising industry. The advert was soon withdrawn. It probably startled the goats.
network:

The copy reads: "... for reading as well". Meaning you do whatever you do and you also read it.
As a Bulgarian, I can tell why they thought this ad could fly. But also glad people complained. Maybe in the ad industry there they will learn when too much is just too much.
