Radiating good energy

Radiators, those unobtrusive friends, hiding in the corners of our homes, offering nothing but the cast iron guarantee of heat... Cast iron, you say - get rid of it! Such has been the attitude of the home makeover crowd, keen to keep up with Joneses, or should the be, Beeny.

But an estimated 44kg of greenhouse gasses are produced for every 100kg of iron that is melted, so rather than ripping your old radiator from the wall and throwing it on the skip, upcycle it. Canadian company EcoRad claims to do the conversion using 99% recycled materials... and the main bonus is, it looks pretty cool too.
