A not so Cheap marketing Trick

"You picked the wrong day to mess with the ecosystem plastic boy!" says Audi.

Veteran - as in wrinkly - rockers Cheap Trick returned to the recording studio to remake their classic hit 'Dream Police' for Audi's recent Super Bowl commercial. The new track 'Green Police' highlights Audi's A3 TDI Green Car of the Year win. "We have no doubt that viewers will walk away from the Super Bowl with that song playing in their heads," said Scott Keogh, Chief Marketing Officer for Audi of America, prior to its viewing by 100M Americans at the weekend. Bearing in mind it ranked 6th in USA Today's Ad Meter ratings of the best and worst of the Super Bowl commercials this was clearly a music partnership worth the investment. Even at a costly $2.6M per 30 seconds.

More on this year's musically nostalgic Super Bowl ads here.
