Build a pizza, find a creative agency
When it comes to looking for work, it always helps to stand out from the crowd. Speaking from personal experience, when I was out of work last year I found that my plain old fashioned style CV wasn't generating much of a reaction from potential employers. After a while I experimented with something a little braver, and took my quiet, reserved CV and gave it a makeover. Not just one of those daytime chat show makeovers where old ladies get a new haircut and a posh frock - this was a full surgical procedure, complete with photos, logos and a bewildering array of colour.
Now I wouldn't recommend it for everyone as this isn't an approach that would work in every sector of industry, but in media you can get away with that kind of thing.
Swedish creative agency Gus&Joe's has adopted a similar approach, building a fun online pizza bakery to show off their technical nous and all-round creativity. Visitors to the site are able to build a pizza, bake it, garnish it and take a photo of it!
Hopefully this will attract the attention of brand marketers from around the world. This is a charming agency website that makes a refreshing change from the usual flash-laden agency vanity projects that exist by the thousand.
Gimmicky? yes - but what a gimmick! (And a brilliant way to kill time over a lunch break!)
