Welcome Cheesybite to centre stage
After Kraft caved to pressure from infuriated Vegemite fans to change the name of its new Philadelphia-Vegemite hybrid spread from iSnack2.0, it polled 30,000 people to find a new name.
The results is the much more palatable Cheesybite.
The amount of publicity this negative press got Vegemite really makes me wonder if this is a new kind of reverse-psychology stunt or hoax. Come up with a really awful idea, throw it out to the public, wait for a huge backlash and then respond quickly to save the day and abate the masses.
Its certainly one way of getting consumers to engage with the rather tired "name-our-product" campaign.
